At Swarner Expeditions, life is all about the adventure. We don’t feel truly alive unless we are out testing our limits, taking risks and embarking on some new adventures. All our packages are planned and guided by experienced trekking enthusiasts who keep you safe while taking you on an adventure of a lifetime.
Sean Swarner, CEO
Sean Swarner was the recipient of the Don’t Ever Give Up award presented by the Jimmy V Foundation and ESPN in 2007. He is a two-time cancer survivor who was first diagnosed at age 13 with Hodgkin’s Disease and later with Askin’s sarcoma. He was given just two weeks to live and is the only person in the world to ever have been diagnosed with both these deadly cancers and lived to tell the tale. He was more likely to win the lottery four times in a row with the same numbers then to have survived.
With only one lung, Sean became the first cancer survivor to summit Mount Everest. From there, he went on to complete the Seven Summits, as well as the Ford Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, HI, with a final time of 11:44:15, and Mt. Kilimanjaro 13 times. In January 2015, Sean completed a trek across Antarctica and plans to trek the North Pole in 2017. Sean’s full story can be read in his book Keep Climbing.
Prior to summiting Mount Everest, Sean created the Cancer Climbers Association, an organization aimed at bringing hope and the promise of a better life to cancer survivors and outdoor enthusiasts.
Sean graduated from Willard High School in Willard, OH, in 1993 and Westminster College in 1997.
